Detonation Gun & Super D-Gun Thermal Spray Coating Services

Our proprietary detonation gun (D-Gun) thermal spray coating process is the leading solution for parts that require extraordinary wear performance and mechanical properties. It combines gas and powder in controlled detonations to generate outstanding coating bond strength and coating density. Typical applications for D-Gun coatings include metal fan blade midspans in aviation engines, turbine blade z-notches, knife-edge seals in power generation, hearth rolls, gate valves, and seats.

Our proprietary Super D-Gun™ thermal spray coating application detonates particles at extremely high velocities, exceeding 3,000 feet per second. And when compared to other thermal spray technologies, it offers significantly better coating properties, such as fatigue resistance. Typical thermal spray coating applications include midspans for both original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and restoration fan blade midspans, as well as aero-engine compressor blades.

Standard production D-Gun and Super D-Gun™ thermal spray coatings include carbides such as tungsten carbide or chrome carbide with a variety of metallic binders; metallic alloys such as MCrAlYs; ceramics such as alumina- or yttria-stabilized zirconia; and cermets, which are blends of virtually any oxide/carbide/metallic desired. Our proprietary detonation gun (D-Gun) and Super D-GunTM thermal spray coating processes are the leading solutions for parts that require extraordinary wear performance and mechanical properties. They combines gas and powder in controlled detonations to generate outstanding coating bond strength and coating density.
